Oratorical Festival of our Parish

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Your child is invited to participate in the 25th Anniversary of the St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival.

When: Wednesday, March 19th 2008, at 7:00 pm after the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts. A light Lenten meal will be served, after which the children will present their speeches.

Where: in the Parish Life Center of Holy Transfiguration

Who: Who is St. John Chrysostom?
St. John Chrysostom was one of the great Church Fathers and Patriarchs of the Orthodox Church. He was a powerful preacher who delivered eloquent sermons and who championed social justice and morality. He has been an inspiration to generations of Orthodox Christians. The Divine Liturgy we celebrate throughout most of the year is attributed to him. He is also known for his eloquent interpretation and deep understanding of the Bible.

Please encourage your child to participate.

A pot lock Lenten Meal will precede the Oratorical Festival.

Sunday of Orthodoxy Pan-Orthodox Vespers

On Sunday, March 16, 2008, our Parish will host the Pan-Orthodox Vespers for the Atlanta Area Orthodox Churches. Join us for the Vespers Service at 6:00 pm followed by a Lenten Reception in the Hall of our Church.
