Byzantine Choir

The Greek Orthodox Church hasĀ a musical tradition that is many centuries old. In 21st century America, we try to maintain that tradition even while we innovate within it. Innovation has principally taken the form of adding more harmonic parts to the more primitive two-part Byzantine musical tradition.

The Byzantine Choir of Holy Transfiguration, currently under the direction of Deacon Paul, strives to maintain the Byzantine musical tradition while making it more accessible and understandable by singing primarily in English and using standard musical notation. Our purpose is simply to uplift the faithful. For a full description of the ministry vision, click here. To join the ministry or support it, please contact Deacon Paul.
